4/28 On court interview of Thiem in Barcelona 2019
Interviewer:
Well, Dominic, Hearty congratulations you're the champion here in Barcelona.
Take us back to a match point what was that feeling like when you put that ?bully? away.
Dominic Thiem:
It's means so much to me to win here because it's a really special tournament, amazing tournament.
Only the greatest players in the history won here roughly 11 times of couse then.
Thomas Muster which means a lot to me that I'm the second Austrian to be on the trophy as well.
Interviewer:
Having played so Wonderfully against Raphael yesterday were you at all worried that you weren't gonna be able to find the same intensity today.
Dominic Thiem:
Yeah, I had some troubles the last year after a huge win against a top opponent.
To keep it up but improved in this department I guess and didn't started well.
But it was a completely different game against Daniil (Medvedev).
And then after 0-3, I started to play better, to make the things better which hurting him I think the slice because othewise he's hardly missing and that was a good tactic.
Interviewer:
The whole week you've had tough opponents that you've come through without dropping a set.
How proud are you of that record.
Dominic Thiem:
It doesn't really mean something to me. It means way more to me that I beat five really good opponents.
That's amazing to me that I win this special tournament in Barcelona.
I'm here for the fifth time and I always dreamed of winning here so that's amazing and of course the win gives me also a lot of confidence for the upcoming week.
Interviewr:
Well I was scared to ask what's possible now for you on the rest of this clay court season.
Dominic Thiem:
Well I mean next week is starting new.
There are all-stars again they are in Madrid.
So it's gonna be really tough again but I'm full of confidence right now of course and I love the tournament in Madrid played good tennis that the last two years so I try to keep it up and keep going.
